Cinnamon Chocolate Almond Milk Recipe: A Silky, Rich Addition To Your Morning Coffee
Did you know that you can make your own non-dairy chocolate milk at home in just a few minutes? This Cinnamon Chocolate Almond Milk recipe was inspired by the infamous Abuelita Mexican Hot Chocolate but is naturally sweetened and completely dairy-free! This silky smooth non-dairy milk is a decadent addition to your morning coffee, latte, or can even be enjoyed as is.

An Abuelita Hot Chocolate-Inspired Almond Milk Flavor
I must admit, this almond milk flavor didn’t just come to me one morning when I woke up and wanted something delicious to add to my coffee. Nope, this almond milk recipe is actually a lot more nostalgic than that! The combination of cinnamon and chocolate was first introduced to me when I tried Nestle’s Abuelita Hot Chocolate for the first time in my eighth grade Spanish class. I absolutely fell in love with the rich decadence of the chocolate married with cinnamon spice undertones, so when I was trying to get creative with my homemade almond milk flavors this combination and memory immediately popped into my head!
Why Should You Make Your Own Almond Milk?

Why on earth would you want to make your own almond milk at home?
Until I started making almond milk at home, I was a serial almond milk buyer – I had two cartons in my fridge at all times because I use it for coffee, lattes, and miscellaneous recipes. As I started to become more conscious about what ingredients were in the foods I was buying, I realized that the almond milk brands without additional gums and other additives were extremely expensive, so I started researching how to make almond milk at home and realized it’s actually super easy!
I originally thought you needed a lot of random gadgets to make almond milk, but after some research it was clear that I had been overcomplicating the process. To make homemade almond milk at home you need a blender and a nut milk bag. If you don’t have a nut milk bag, you can use a cheesecloth or a thin tea towel – either of these items will work just fine to strain your almond milk from your almonds.
Why I Love This Cinnamon Chocolate Almond Milk Recipe
In 2024, I discovered that my body produces antibodies that attack my thyroid. My doctor highly recommended that I stick to an anti-inflammatory diet because of the correlation between thyroid function and inflammation. I create most recipes, including this Cinnamon Chocolate Almond Milk Recipe, with the intention of making something delicious that is going to serve my needs and leave me feeling my absolute best. I’ve noticed that eating as clean as possible has made me feel better, heal faster, and help with my overall cognitive function. I am by no means a doctor or registered dietician, but I did want to share my personal “why” for creating recipes like this one.
