Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Cherry Compote:

  • 2 c Frozen Cherries
  • 1/4 c Honey
  • 1 Lemon, (juiced)

For the Almond Milk:

  • 1 1/3 c Almonds
  • 3 c Fresh Drinking Water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions

Prepare Your Cherry Compote:

1. Combine Your Ingredients: Start by adding your frozen cherries, fresh lemon juice, and honey to a pot.

2. Cook Down Your Cherry Compote: Place your pot over medium heat and cook, periodically stirring for 15 minutes until your cherries begin to break apart into a thick jammy liquid. Once it reaches this point, remove your compote from the heat and transfer it to a glass dish to cool.

Prepare Your Almond Milk:

  1. Prepare Your Almonds: Start by soaking your almonds in water for at least 3 hours, or overnight if possible until they’re soft enough to blend. Once they’re soft, rinse and strain your almonds and add them to your blender with 3 cups of fresh drinking water
  2. Add Your Flavoring: Add your cooled cherry compote to your blender with your almonds and blend it until smooth. There will still be traces of almond skin, that’s okay! You’ll strain those out in the next step.
  3. Straining Your Almond Milk: Place your nut milk bag (or a tea towel) over a large bowl and dump your almond milk mixture into it. Using your hands, wring out the bag until all of the liquid is strained into the bowl.
  4. Serve Your Homemade Cherry Almond Milk: Transfer your Cherry Almond Milk to a pouring dish with a lid and enjoy in your coffee or matcha lattes! This will keep in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
